About

Hi, I'm Václav.

By day, I work as a mechanical hardware developer. By night (and in most of my free time), I'm usually found tinkering with my home-built pen plotter.

It all started because I wanted a personal project that would really challenge me. Since I'm a hardware guy, building the machine itself was the first big goal. But along the way, I fell in love with what the machine could actually do.

From Code to Paper

I'm not a professional programmer, so my process is a bit of a collaboration. I write my own scripts in Python, often using AI to help me bridge the gaps. This gives me a unique kind of "half-control". I set the rules, but the code always adds its own little surprises.

The most important thing for me is that every piece is a 1/1 original. I never plot the same thing twice. Once a drawing is finished, I move on to the next experiment.

Why I don't use a "normal" printer

People sometimes ask why I built such a "slow printer." For me, that's exactly the point. There is something incredibly calming about watching the pen move across the paper, line by line. Since I built the machine myself, watching it work is a huge part of the joy. It's not just about the final image. It's about the process and the way a simple pen can create a sense of movement that feels frozen in time.

What's going on now

I'm currently experimenting with different types of pens and moving from A4 to A5 and A3 formats. I like to let things evolve naturally without overcomplicating them.

I'm really happy you're here. It's a great feeling to know that these experiments from my home office find a place in your homes.
